![]() Trained volunteers and interns make essential
contributions to our service programs and to the criminal justice
system. In-jail internships We are pleased to offer long- and short-term unpaid internships to provide primary social services within San Francisco jails. We have found that interns quickly come to understand the essentials of effectively serving prisoner clients. Time spent as an NCSL intern provides a priceless understanding of the human and systemic basis of crime and incarceration. It also provides a chance to positively intervene in the lives of those who might otherwise remain deprived of meaningful alternatives. Please contact our Pre-Release Administrator at (415)552-9250, or e-mail us, or write us at the address below. Substance abuse counselors Volunteer substance abuse counselors work in our in-jail drug treatment program and in our post-release office. at our Post-Release office. Responsibilities include client
intake, administrative, and other support functions. Please
